  8. Welcome to LogiCat!  LogiCat was designed to allow you to easily catalog
  9. your disks.  LogiCat is the first step in bringing you a set of disk
  10. tracking utilities that go beyond anything published to date.  I'm sure
  11. you'll enjoy the power that LogiCat brings you; finally an advance in
  12. disk cataloging technology is available!

  15. [------------- N O T I C E ! ! ! --------------]
  16. There have been significant changes in the reports since the documentation
  17. was created.  Please take the time to read this file and the history file
  18. for important notes on the new features added to LogiCat.

  21. [-------- CHANGES IN THE DOCUMENTATION --------]
  22.  
  23. Since LogiCat was introduced there have been several changes in LogiCat
  24. that aren't yet included in the documentation.  The following summarizes
  25. additions to the manual:
  26.  
  27. 1)  On the Add menu and the Delete/replace menu a new item has been added
  28.     that provides "multi-drive" support.  By choosing the multi-drive item
  29.     you're allowed to log/replace files from any number of different drives
  30.     in any order you specify.  The disadvantage to logging files in this
  31.     manner is that you must type the drive letter and press return for 
  32.     each disk you log/replace.  This feature is mainly useful for Sysops
  33.     who desire to log multiple hard drives.
  34.  
  35.     Note that the other menu options that are documented in the manual
  36.     still work as specified.
  37.  
  38. 2)  A hard disk is REQUIRED, not just recommended as the documentation
  39.     indicates.
  40.  
  41. 3)  When you replace a disk, LogiCat has to keep both disks in memory
  42.     temporarily so it can copy the comments for existing files to the 
  43.     new disk.  If you don't have enough files configured (and LogiCat
  44.     can't automatically increase them), the disk will not be able to 
  45.     be replaced properly.  LogiCat will keep the files that it can, 
  46.     but once it runs out of memory, it will not pick up the rest of 
  47.     the files from the disk.  Note that a warning message is displayed
  48.     if this happens.

  50. 4)  Several new options have been added.  The options for expanding an 
  51.     archive, and extracting ARCHIVE comments have been modified to go from
  52.     the previous Yes/No toggle to have a third option:  ASK.  If you set 
  53.     the associated option to ASK, LogiCat will prompt before expanding an
  54.     archive allowing you to selectively expand archives.
  55.  
  56.     An option has been added that allows you to have LogiCat prompt if
  57.     the report output should go to the screen or the configured report
  58.     destination at report time.  When set to YES LogiCat will prompt
  59.     you whether you want the report to go to the screen or not.  If you
  60.     say 'N' LogiCat will send the file to the report destination regardless
  61.     of the printer name used.
  62.  
  63.     An option has been added to the 'Report Options' that allows you to 
  64.     specify whether or not double spacing is to be used.
  65.  
  66.     An option has been added to the import utility that allows you to
  67.     specify whether or not LogiCat should ignore extensions when importing
  68.     comments.  When set to 'NO' LogiCat will ignore the extension of files
  69.     that are configured as libraries when it imports the comments.

  71. 5)  When LogiCat prompts for a disk name (other than the selection criteria
  72.     prompts) you can leave the field empty (press return without typing
  73.     anything) to cause LogiCat to present you with a popup list of the
  74.     disk names that are currently in memory.  Using the cursor keys, typing
  75.     the name you desire, using home/end, etc. you can highlight the name you
  76.     desire to work with and press return to select the highlighted name.

  78. 6)  You are now allowed to specify the max width of fields on the report.
  79.     In addition PCB Sysops can create PCB file lists using LogiCat!  See
  80.     the history file for details.
  81.  
  82. 7)  Several hotkeys have been provided for the menus.  They are described
  83.     in the history file.
